When you feel bad inside what do you do? When you feel depressed or worried, how do you mange your negative emotions? Do you hide from them? Do you push them down inside? Or do you put on a mask, or maybe you put up walls from others so nobody knows what your feeling?
Most of us have poor coping skills when it comes to addressing negative emotions. Commonly, we’re either running away from our emotions, hiding from bad feelings, pushing them down inside or simply not acknowledging them. These common responses to negative emotions ignores the wisdom that they offer our life.
More importantly, when we don’t stop and feel what we are suppose to feel then we miss the opportunity to hear what our bodies and our life are really trying to tell us. And consequently, when we ignore or push negative emotion down within us we trap that energy. After all, emotions are simply energy in motion in our bodies!
We must move all energy through and out of our body. We must listen to what our emotions are trying to tell us. Only then can we analyze what we feel, where it might live within us, and de-mystify any falsehoods that we maybe running in the background of our minds causing us to misinterpret the triggers that move us into negative emotion.
After doing this deep work with myself for over 24 years, and now with others, there is a reason why today I feel invulnerable to worry, anxiety and sadness. I know that these feelings when I feel them are really trying to empower me and inform me. Nothing happens by accident and ALL or our feelings are important to our wellbeing and to our life experience. We must know them, embrace them and manage them.
