Understanding self love

“To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.” - Fred Rogers

True love isn’t suppose to have contingencies or prerequisites in order for it to flow from one person to another. For me, loving others is easy, but to love ourselves for exactly who we each are right here, right now is the trick to understanding what love is really about.

We must be able to look into the mirror and truly love what we see. We must be able to look into the face of those we strongly disagree with and love them for who they are. We must be able to love anyone even though they may believe in something that we might not like. And we must be able to separate the ideas and actions from the eternal beings that might produce them.

The love we have for others is a reflection of the love we show ourselves to ourselves. The most important person you will ever love in your life is YOU! It is how we remind ourselves who we each really are.

In order to be bigger than our problems we must delegate them to a place of lesser importance than the person or circumstances that we might blame for them. We are powerful enough to love indiscriminately no matter the person or circumstance. The only thing that ever stands in your way of feeling the infinite love that flows to each of us and through each of us is ourselves.

I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
