Somebody asked me recently for one of my good thoughts of the day. Well I don’t think I could say it better than Stephen Hawking. He understood, probably because of his body’s limitations, that without purpose in this life none of us really want to be here. But if we focus on being in this moment now, not looking too far ahead or behind us, then all we will ever need do is look up to the stars and dream!
Hawking also says if we are lucky enough to find love, real love, then his advice as well as mine is to grab ahold of it and keep it close. Mind you, real love is very different than what most people think. Real love or true love, only wants wellbeing for the other. It sees the other without a need to capture it or hold it away from others. It can’t exist along side jealously or a desire to insist that the object of love perform in some way in order to feel the love for the other. It doesn’t have requirements or standards to be, it is just offered continuously because it is your true orientation toward the object of affection.
In short, love is a state of being that focuses itself toward another. This way of seeing each other only produces the eyes of appreciation. I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
*P.S. Do you know the name of this beauty from the late 1800’s? If you do you will impress me!
