Enhancing Quality Of Life Through Presence And Focus

This is “Henry” my tapestry elephant wall hanging. He stands about 6 feet high in my soon to be meditation sunroom. I have always felt that the elephant is my spirit animal. They are majestic creatures, and when you work with them you really feel like they feel with you. At least I did when I got the honor of feeding and washing an elephant in Thailand last year. It was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had!

Staying present in my life is difficult sometimes. I am pulled out of my moment constantly by the sporadic nature of my thoughts and where my attention seems to be drawn, but I move myself back and focus on where I am now. Staying present is critical to experiencing joy or any other wonderful positive emotion.

THB:

There is a richness to life when I stop and pay attention to all of the details of my current moment. The exactness of sound and the vibrance of color are enhanced. Not to mention the myriad of tactile sensations around me can delight me even more as I focus on them. And when I am present to all these I have a heightened  sense of my experience. As I focus more I also increase the momentum of wonderful feelings that I am bombarded with. If I have chosen to focus on the joy I have with any experience then I seem to add speed to which more of the same feelings come faster and faster. This is how we add momentum to anything we have in life. We are an instrument to which we get to play our life’s song. The notes we play each day we choose by how we focus ourselves into this life. We are all worthy of a wonderful song. Be the song that you wish to hear in your life by tuning your instrument to the sounds you love hearing each day. I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
