My entire life I have never lacked motivation to pursue my goals. I seem to always have an endless amount of energy and motivation to want to do everything it took to accomplish whatever goal I had in mind. It was always easy for me to muster up what I needed internally in order to do what had to be done. Why?
I have thought about this question especially since I have coached so many and motivation is a topic of great discussion with all my clients from time to time. I can see that in my own life what I have done not knowing it has been to cultivate an internal environment that breeds excitement for all that I want. How have I done this?
The secret for me lies in actively dreaming about all the wonderful outcomes that I will feel and get when I accomplish whatever it is that I set my mind to. But first I know that I believe that I can accomplish anything I want as long as I am patient and I constantly focus on what I want.
And when I say focus on what I want, what I am talking about in my experience is constantly daydreaming, writing about it, and talking about what I want to myself or others. It becomes like an obsession internally with me when I fix my sights on it. Once I do then I simplify what I must do and I focus my energy there.
I don’t focus on where I want to go or what I want actually. Instead I end up being obsessive about what I can do no matter how long it takes. What can I do because I control that completely. I don’t control my outcomes so I don’t focus there. But I do control my work so I obsess there. It has worked for me for over 50 years.
So I say be a day-dreamer, and obsessive one that really understands with deep clarity exactly what you will get emotionally in every aspect of your life when you get what you desire. This is the key to always wanting to do what it takes to accomplish what you want. You must know every facet of the jewel that you desire. Once you clearly know this and consistently focus your thoughts and actions on it you will eventually get what you want.
I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
