“How to really stay motivated”

“How to really stay motivated”

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” -Robert Louis Stevenson

For over 30 years I have coached athletes’ and clients’ nutrition and fitness journeys. And what I have to constantly remind most people is to not judge their progress or lack of progress that they often feel they want. It’s hard not to want to be down after working hard and seemingly not making the kind of results you want.

Sometimes we simply don’t always see in the mirror or on the scale the week’s work. It’s only seven days after all. And watching progress on our bodies often feels like watching paint dry. The subtle changes can be hard to detect if you are always watching.

Most often the results people want to see can sometimes be unrealistic amongst all the variables we don’t control in our bodies and life. All of which can hide the results that we want to see. After all we can retain water effecting our scale weight just from a lack of a few hours sleep.

This often times makes many people feel down about their journey because they want to something happen. Most of us do something and expect to see some visible response. Sometimes it just takes longer to see this. But don’t get frustrated and give in on your process. That will for sure derail you in your fitness journey prolonging your progress even longer when looking for it.

Instead judge your journey by the daily work you get done and the positive thoughts that you generate supporting your good work. The goal is celebrating the effort. The better you are at the effort you will eventually see what you want to. But it’s the work that produces all the results so celebrate the work not the results.

Focusing on results will usually get you frustrated. Most just don’t get the results they want when they want them. They get them if they endeavor but it is on results time not your desires time. But if you fill your days up with celebrating your work that you get done then you will fill everyday with a feeling of winning and that will keep you encouraged to make it through the long haul.

I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
