One of my favorite stories “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupery. What I appreciate most is the sentiment that the most essential things in this life we can usually only see with our hearts. Not the organ but our loving sensibilities that innermost part of us that is central to our loving and fulfilling experience in this life.
We rely so much on our vision to tell us where to look for love, safety and inspiration but where we might look and possibly be more successful is those places only our hearts can discover.
On the visual surface is where I looked for inspirations in my life and even love. Wow how disappointed have I been when something turns out to be so much more uglier than what I saw with my eyes.
I think it takes faith in our own ability to find what we are looking for with our heart. I know that I have trusted my eyes when I should have trusted my heart. It can be a scary thing to not see with your eyes or not feel on the surface that you aren’t getting what you are looking for but then to take a leap of trust in what my heart feels. And then to finally see what your heart has seen without vision. Love, beauty and safety.
I am love. Even though I have experienced rejection. I am joy. Even though I have experienced pain. I am good. Even though others may have mistreated me. I am not my experiences.
