In order to achieve your fitness goals what do you think you should focus on each day? Most people focus on the goal but I say focus on your practices or process. Good consistent practices and daily processes will lead you to your goals, not focusing on goals.
When we focus just on our goals we are keenly aware that we are not where we want to be. We are literally reminding ourselves each moment that we are NOT at the wonderful destinations that we desire. But if we focus on process or the activities that move our bodies and our lives towards those places we want to go is the best way to move as quickly toward our goals.
When I work with athletes and my clients on their body goals, no matter what they are, I always re-direct them towards improving their practices and daily process. This could me diet, exercise and supplementation, but it can also mean what you are thinking about and what feelings you are cultivating each day within you.
This is the most neglected aspect of fitness, how fun and exciting is your journey. I know that this is crucial to achievement in this life especially in fitness. You simply have to find a way to really love what you are doing each day or you will not last or make it to your goals.
This is why I incorporate mindfulness and mindset training as a part of my coaching process. I have found over the last 37 years that when you really love what you are doing, success is an inevitability.
