We all must accept the hard fact that we are all selfish creatures by nature. This is only a bad thing if we are selfish at the expense of others. If we want our needs met, and if we want to move closer to our desires, then we must be self directed.
In order each of us to accomplish our personal goals and fulfill our basic emotional and physical needs we all must be self directed each day. And if someone calls you selfish for acting out of your own self interest they are right! But that is the way it should be.
I find it humourous those that cry “selfish” are usually only doing so because they want me to place my focus and energy on them instead of me. That is the definition of being selfish at someone else’s expense. They are exemplifying exactly what they are complaining about.
Be as selfish as you need to and when you have the opportunity to be kind and loving towards others do that too. Just don’t do it at the expense of your own well-being. Don’t put your needs aside in order to satisfy someone else’s demands. When we do this we betray ourselves we demonstrate a lack of self love and personal boundaries.
I can be selfish, self directed and still be loving, compassionate and authentic towards others. I always get my needs met at the end of the day and that is my job to do, nobody else can do this for me but me. I blame no one for who I am and what I feel because I am in charge of how I feel and my reactions to my life experience.
I am love. I am joy. I am so very good. And so are each one of you!
