I determine my experience

“Who I decide to show up as each day determines my experience, not who I meet or what happens to me.” _ Tad Inoue

Most think that life, people and our experiences make us feel things. And from a certain perspective that can seem true. When we hear love from another that is directed at us we can often times feel warm and loved. Or we can feel angry and frustrated if we have a challenging experience in our life. But is it really the event or person that causes these feelings and emotions to bubble up within us?

The truth is, we create all our own feelings and emotions. We tend to use the actions of people, our experiences, and the things we like or dislike to give us a reason to feel all that we usually do. When we hear a message of love directed at us we usually take that message in as our truth and which initiates a program that runs within us. Biochemicals are released and we feel all that we do. It is a wonderful biological process. But It can feel as though something outside us is really makes us feel what we feel even though it is really us that does it all.

We are the masters of our own experiences. We control the emotional temperature of our lives with the power of our focus and the message we tell ourselves about it. We each respond differently to all that we encounter. But make no mistake, we are the one’s creating our feelings.

I am love. I am joy. I am so very good. And so are each one of you!
