Over-Thinking And Staying Centered

Me and Luke Sandoe backstage at the Olympia. It was great today to have Luke on my podcast, HYH and great to start recording again. We got to talk about bodybuilding, but we also spent a lot of time talking about really fun geeky stuff that he and I share an interest in like comic books, movies and role playing games! What a great episode and thank you again Luke for sharing with me. I will release it tomorrow sometime so watch for episode 47 its a fun one!

THB:

One of the topics Luke and I talked about today in the podcast was over-thinking one’s life and process. I have pondered this topic recently because I have found in my own life that the older I get, I have a tendency to be in my head more and more. I am guilty of over-analyzing my life and any situation or decision. While I do advocate developing a healthy critical thinking process to my life, it is when my thinking is producing within me negative feelings such as doubt, anxiety or sadness that I know I am over-doing it. The remedy I have found that works better the more I do it, is being more aware of my over-thinking thoughts and then stopping in my tracks any thought process that I am participating in at that moment. I then redirect my thoughts to a simple affirmation that has meaning to me and that will remind me to literally let go of what I am trying to wrestle with in my brain. The affirmation I use is “I am good!” I use it a lot and it may seem simple and less than powerful, but for me it has a history of thoughts that feel good and it conjures up just the right feelings that I can grab onto that always helps move me away from any negative ones. No matter what thoughts or affirmations I use to bring me back to my stable good feeling center point, I remind myself that I am in control of how I feel but I must take an active role in controlling them or they may run a muck! I am love. I am joy. I am so very good!
