Process over Product

"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." - Zig Ziglar

The secret to greatness in this life is built in the daily process of achieving. However, we tend to think in terms of destinations or the products of our lives when it comes to what we really want from our lives. But actually so many people get exactly what they want and decide they want more or something else. Many will even caution you to “be careful what you wish for, because you will probably get it.” Deep down inside, we each know that it isn’t the “stuff” of life that gives our lives its value. It is our experiences that makes life worth more than anything else we know.

Our daily process that gets us to our goals and that also delivers to us all the exhilaration of our days is really the juice that we want to drink each day. And it is in our daily rituals that we discover why some succeed and others flounder and fail. True failure has only one trait that re-occurs in every example, the person has to quit. When you don’t give in or give up, you are still in the process of achieving and becoming. Don’t be fooled by time or the need to determine exactly when or how something is going to come into your life, just work. Put your energy into your daily process and focus on they joy of this ride of discovery.

One way that I remind myself to focus on my daily journey, I ask myself a simple question. “What am I most thankful for in my life?” A seemly simple question, but what am I MOST thankful for? What am I the most grateful above all else in my life? Well for sure it has never been things, or accomplishments, or money or even my relationships or family, all of which I am very thankful for though. But I am the most thankful for the blessings of my feelings. I am grateful that I can feel all that I do in this life. I get to love. I get to be excited. I get to feel the fun of my life. And yes I get to feel my fears. I get to feel anger at times. And I get to feel frustration and sadness too.

My emotions guide me through this life of energy. This process empowers me to uncover these feelings that become the treasures of my life. I collect them just like beautifully colored Easter eggs in the basket of my life. So I say thank you for every feeing that I have ever had. I say thank you for my ability to feel and I say thank you for this wonderful journey that I get to have. I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
