Patience & Time the Reservoir of Joy

“The strongest of all warriors are these two - Time and Patience.” - Leo Tolstoy

Being patient when you really want something can feel painful and agonizing. One of the lessons I teach all my clients is that everything happens in its own good time. We control only what we think and what we do, we have no control over when something will arrive or be delivered to us. No matter what we do to effect change in our lives, we must allow this life to yield everything to us in its own time. There are simply too many moving parts in this life that must be manipulated in order to control any outcomes we may want. So patience becomes the comforter that we all must embrace in order to weather the storm of time.

So what do we do while we wait for the consequences of our thoughts and actions? What do we do to empower our dreams in the meantime? We work. We focus on the labor of our lives that is connected to our intentions and dreams. We focus on falling in love with the process of our lives. This is the only way I know to tilt the scales in our favor. If what you really want is just the end result, then you are probably in for a rough ride. But if what you really want is what that goal is going to yield to you emotionally, then you can have that all along the way to any destination or goal.

How we feel about anything is always the real desire. Whether it be a house, money, a wonderful relationship or a job, we only want these things because we really want what we think our life will feel like when we have them. It really isn’t the things or relationships that we truly want. While all these are wonderful points of focus for us to focus ourselves toward, they are not the ends to which will ever truly satisfy our life’s path here. We want to feel the fullness of who we each know we are on the inside. Usually, this feels like love, fun, excitement, freedom or lightness. These are all feelings that we want surrounding our lives and our life results. They are who we really are. I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
