My favorite Surrealist artist Salvador Dali, really understood what it means to embrace who you are. He was often seen as a little psychotic in his work and somewhat odd in personality compared to most of us who take a more conformist attitude toward self-expression. Dali had a reputation for being much like his artwork. He was flamboyant and very confident. Salvador understood that being who you feel you truly are is essential to living a rewarding life and to his artistic expression. While seen as strange and outlandish at times, Dali was an artistic genius who pushed the limits of art in new and provocative ways. He would end up becoming one of the most successful and famous artists of the twentieth century working in almost every medium including film.
This quote by Dali really reflects his almost perfect positive attitude about his life and himself that we all can take a lesson from. His personal joy exists because of his understanding of his own personal state of being. Dali is joy, and the consequence of this is the mystery of how it will express itself each day. It is exactly what I mean when I write each day “I am joy.” What we embrace about ourselves is what we become in our life experience. What we become we automatically feel within us. I don’t become joy, I am joy. I don’t become love. I am love. I don’t become good. I am good.
