There has been some interesting research on forgiveness. Forgiveness has so many wonderful benefits beyond just feeling better and reconciling with another person. So much has already been said on this. But what I find interesting it also seems to me to be the starting point of shifting my perspective.
Hate or spite can turn to sympathy or even gratitude if forgiveness is authentically applied. But how do we forgive those who we feel have wronged us? Is there a logic to forgiveness?
I think at the core of authentic forgiveness relies on the forgiver to make a definite choice that is based on wanting to feel better. Not for the sake of the other or for the sake of getting along. But for the sake of simply wanting to live a better human experience. It is for oneself that the real gifts of forgiveness seems to shine.
When we forgive no matter what the reason we release ourselves from the torment of the suffering that may have been caused by another. If we don’t we continue to re-injure ourselves just by the negative feelings we create inside of us when we hold something against others. Regardless if it is justified or not.
What a beautiful tool to not only change our brainwave states to more positive states, but also ignite out life experiences with all kinds of beautiful experiences that would not be possible if we where busy holding things against others.
