“the real currency of this life is in what you offer”

“The most valuable think I have is what I offer others. Me, my joy, my honesty, my love and my time. Everything else will fade and go away. ” - Tadayoshi Inoue

They say change is the one thing you can count on in life. Does that mean it has to be bad? I think we can look at it in several different ways. Some of the changes like skin wrinkles and grey hairs we can see as getting older and bad but I really try to see them as badges of courage that I have acquired in my life that are the markers of wisdom and experience.

Do I sometimes wish I had less grey and more hair? Yes, but I wouldn’t go back to my younger self and give up what I have learned! I have spent quite a bit of time in my life reflecting and learning how to appreciate what I have gone through.

There has been lots of challenges, disappointments but there has also been a tremendous amount of wins, learning and accomplishments too. I don’t think you can have one without the other. So I accept both with honor, pride and gratitude. I haven’t always gotten what I have wanted in this life. But generally I have received more than I ever expected to.

I really believe after 52 years of life, that the real currency of this life is what you learn and what you offer to others. I think you can really tell what kind of person and life you have lived by what you have offered to others and what mark you leave on others when you leave the room and this life.

I am confident that I have left people with more than they came to me with, emotionally and in other non-tangible ways. And I know that when I do leave this earth someday, that those that know me well will miss me and want more time with me. I don’t think that I am any better than anyone else but I do offer more than many do.

The most valuable offering to me is honesty, love, joyful living, but most of all a deep and real connection with the me that is me. It really is all I have to offer of real value. I am love. I am joy. I am good.
