Today’s meditation is a meditation of gratitude and love for my brother. There hasn’t been a day of my life that I didn’t love and respect my twin brother, Asao Inoue. He has been my life-long companion, friend and brother. My life would not be what it is today without him. I am humbled, thankful and filled with love for him.
Asao was my first and most favorite playmate as a child, and today he is always my most favorite company that I ever keep. He recently published another book called “Above The Well, an antiracist literacy argument from a boy of color.”
Yes Asao is a tenured professor of rhetoric and composition at ASU. He really is a rock star in academia in the field of antiracist literacy and pedagogy. But what I love so much about my brother is that he is compassionate, loving, intelligent and understands the importance of our words.
And to me the word “brother” means so much love. When I say the word brother I feel warm and loving inside always. I don’t know why I was so blessed to have so much love in my life. My mother, my brother and so many others. I grew up encumbered with love that was unconditional and relentless. I know this isn’t what everyone experiences, but I did in spades.
Thank you Asao. I am so proud of all that you are. You are a loving husband and father, a powerful educator and the best brother I could ever have. I know we intended this life together. I think we are making it a grand success! I love you.
I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
