When our desire to have the body and health we want goes unfulfilled for too long, we start to feel like a prisoner in our own body. We can feel resentment toward ourselves, towards others and we can start to hate what we see in the mirror. These negative feelings actually hold us back from change often times encouraging us to stop dieting, cheat on our meal plans, skip our exercise and generally make our fitness transformation journey miserable and impossible to complete. 

The truth is in order to transform our bodies we must leave behind much of who we think we are in order to embrace something new and better. We must create and accept within ourselves the changed identity before our physical body will change. This is the process of true transformation.

I had a client Mellisa not too long ago who felt this way about her body.  She desperately desired to lose weight and love her body, but she struggled for several years trying to get just 20 pounds off. I started working with her and in the first week she had an old belief that made her believe that she would always get stuck losing weight at a certain point. Like clockwork once she hit this magical number on the scale she would literally stop losing weight and things would get difficult. We dug into this on her discovery call and she came to realize that this was her limiting belief that had been holding her back for years. Once we cleared this, she lost all the weight she wanted and actually several pounds more than she expected.
