Oh how I love this Rumi quote. How it encapsulates so perfectly my own sentiments for every love and lover I have ever had in my life. Loving in this way has been my life’s deepest treasure. I admit my eyes were always pleased to see my lovers, but it was always my heart that would sing every time I would see each of them.
Today however I must say good bye to a very special love. Really the only true love of my life, my old self. Today there are some parts of me that I must embrace with love and bid adieu. But I don’t like saying good bye, I would rather say I love you.
So I say to my life: I love you old ways. I love you old desires. And yes, I love you too my old fears. I love you my old pain. I love you my old self. I say farewell but also thank you. Thank you for being by my side through all of my life. Thank you for informing me and teaching me all that you have. Thank you for guiding me to all my wonderful places and people. Thank you for wrapping your caring arms around me when no one else was there.
I have gained so much in my life because of you, but it is time now to embrace new ideas and new ways. I will never forget the love that was always behind every feeling, every intention and every moment you have been with me.
I am so very thankful for all that you have given me all these fifty-one years. And as I move forward, your wisdom will continue to guide me. It is always sad to part ways but I know you will still be with me guiding me, helping me, reminding me just how wonderful I am, just how deserving I am of all the love that you have showed me.
I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
