Saying goodbye to the old self

“Farewell has a sweet sound of reluctance. Good-by is short and final, a word with teeth sharp to bite through the string that ties past to the future.” - John Steinbeck

I don’t know if you are like me, but I have always hated saying goodbye in any form. It feels sad and shortsighted of me when I do so. So I usually don’t say it much unless it is necessary. But there always comes a time for us all to dismiss our past and embrace something new if we want to create a new future for ourselves. Changing from within can only be reflected outward in our lives if we can actually say goodbye to our old habits, beliefs and thoughts.

Saying goodbye to our old selves is a way of allowing us to move on and create something new. Whether it be creating a new career, relationship or body we must give ourselves permission to move in new ways. If we do not then we are usually destined to repeat our past fumbling around trying for change only to be constantly side-tracked and blocked from acting in ways that we desire.

Saying goodbye to our old selves can be like breaking up with a lover. We start to remember only the good things about the old life and we temporarily forget about all of the pain and discomfort that we continually experience because we can’t stay focused on our new wonderful future.

I have seen this happen over and over again when I help my clients transform their bodies from over-fat to that youthful vibrant and powerful person they want to experience each day. Laura was a great example of this. She came to me wanting a complete body and life overhaul. She wanted to sculpt her body into what she had always dreamed of and become that person that didn’t feel self-conscious, always tired, embarrassed about her size and invisible in public.

Once I was able to talk to her deeply in her discovery call, we quickly figured out that Laura hadn’t given herself permission to really change. She was afraid to say goodbye to the pain and the past. She was holding on to what she had always known because she was unsure what the future might hold. Within a few weeks of working with me, she started losing weight and feeling better in her life, but only after many tears and a heartfelt goodbye did she dismiss her old self and begin to transform.

Do you want to say goodbye to some part of your experience? Does any of this sound like you? I would love to have a discovery call with you if you are ready to go all in and transform your body and life. I have limited spots open but I am talking a handful of new clients now. If you are ready to change now, let’s talk. If I can help you, I will tell you right away and I will make you an offer to work with me. No matter what, every person walks away from these conversations uplifted and encouraged and with more knowledge than when they first came.

I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
