Writing: a tool for clarity and creation

“When asked, "How do you write?" I invariably answer, "One word at a time," and the answer is invariably dismissed. But that is all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope.” - Stephen King

One of our century’s greatest fiction writers is Stephen King, and his simplistic description of his writing process is really the same advice I give all my clients when it comes to creating their body masterpiece as they strive to refine what we see in the mirror each day. We always focus on just one meal, one workout, one day at a time. This is always all you ever need to focus on.

For the same reason of simplicity and focus, writing is something that I make a daily practice. It helps me keep my clarity of focus so that I don’t get distracted by anything along the way to everything I want. Clarity of focus is a requirement to accomplish any of my goals in life. Writing allows me a wonderful creative tool in which I get to release those things that I do not want within me and embrace those elements that I wish to cultivate. It helps me keep my mind clear and focused on what I can control; what I think about and what I do.

Writing is a powerful modality for me to constantly create, refine and remind myself of my ever changing vision for my life. Writing allows me to do more than just re-imagine myself and my life. Writing allows me to create within myself exactly what I want to feel in this existence. When I do this I have literally created a new world that is just waiting for me to believe in it enough in order for me to feel something from it. It’s magical!

I am a wizard who weaves his spells with his words. And from these incantations I bring forth my feelings. These conjured emotions are the treasures of my life. So, I create my visions, my questions, my obstacles, and my answers with words. I express them as symbols on a page to remind and refresh me of what I am. I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
