“What I have learned”

"The true test of a person's character is not how they behave when things are going well, but how they handle themselves when things are tough." - Unknown

I haven’t always conducted myself with the level of decorum and grace that I would have liked in my life. Especially when I was triggered, tested or when things just went wrong. But I can say that I have learned more from the losses, the pain and the disappointments of my life than anything else.

It is hard to always perform in this life with grace, dignity and compassion when it feels like life is crushing you in the areas of your life that feel the most important to you. But what I have learned as I have made my way through my own experiences is that I don’t have to always be perfect. My perfection sometimes comes through the acceptance of my imperfections.

I strive to understand myself more each day. I offer myself and others more slack and latitude to mess up a bit. And I  remember to always lead with as much compassion as I can. I just don’t always know what others are going through nor consider what I am facing in every moment.

I have learned along the way that this is what my journey in this life is really about. It isn’t about getting to the end of things. It is about learning how to survive and thrive through the getting to things.

I don’t know it all. But I do know we are all in the same boat of confusion and mystery. And that this world that we all share can offer so much awesomeness to each of us. If we allow it to. Issue often is, we all tend to get in our own way and each others way. I am trying to get out of the way of others and my own.

That means I try to love myself more, love others more, and share what I have experienced. Hopefully this will encourage and help others along their own unique paths to getting to where they want to go. But no matter what, it is about how I decide to move in my life each day and really where.

I am love. I am joy. I am good.
