I have lived a life of deep passions. My purpose at every moment in my life, the loves of my life and even the fun times of my life have always been filled with such passionate exuberance. Today I get told by younger folks that they have a hard time finding what they can be passionate about.
Finding what you are passionate about relies so heavily on standing for or with something or someone. This often requires being very opinionated. Yes and I believe that is a good thing sometimes. It doesn’t mean you don’t listen to others but it does mean that you can hold your frame against heavy opposition.
The expression of passion often means standing for something or with someone to the extent that it is worth it for you to lay your life down for it. Yes you would give your life for your ideas, values and maybe even a person in your life because they or it holds so much value to you.
It is easy to think we can do this for someone like a lover or a child. But can you really do it for a principle or an idea you believe in? I know I feel this way. But I live for the extreme feelings of life. I want them all! Maybe you don’t. But if not then you may not be able to really have something you are truly passionate about. And that is ok too.
I am love. I am joy. I am so very good.
