Most athletes and people generally just want to win every time they step on stage of compete in any endeavor. But it is the rare few in this life that only win. Most of us win some and we lose some. The real objective if you are a competitor at heart and not just a trophy seeker is to learn from every experience. Take something that you can use to make you better than this last time.
If you can consistently learn even the smallest things from your competitive experiences then eventually you will cruise so far ahead of the pack that you will most likely be the person to beat. If you continue this kind of learning objective your entire competitive career then you will most likely bridge a gap between your competition so wide they will have a very difficult time catching you.
Guard yourself from negative emotion during times of disappointment. When we get frustrated or angry we lose much of our ability to learn the lessons our experience can teach us. It is ok to be disappointed but if you can’t find what you need to do next in order to get better then you are no better than when you started. So no matter what level of competition you are in, the objective is always to learn more.
I am love. I am joy. I am very good. And so are you!
