I spoke with my mother last night. I speak to her more often these days because I am filled with a sense of gratitude for what I feel she has given me in my life and I deeply enjoy my mother’s perspectives. It struck me hard last night just how thankful I am for having such a wonderful mother. My life has had difficulties but it also has an abundance of love, warmth and goodness in it always.
I could have had a mother who cared more about herself than the safety of her twin boys. I could have had a mother who didn’t believe I could be something more than I am. I could have had a mother who didn’t create safety and love in the home that I grew up in. And I could have had a mother that simply didn’t put her heart and soul into keeping me and my twin brother safe, secure and loved. This is the mother I have!
My mother loves me this I know! My mother honors me. My mother holds space for my ideas and my own sense of this world. Even when she disagrees. And my mother sees me for who I am truly. I can always be me with my mom. And that makes me feel good about me. I always end our conversations with “mom I love you and I am so thankful that you are my mom. You did the best job ever!”
I have a sense of awe about the wonderful nature of my life. And I feel a tremendous sense of gratitude and responsibility to share what I know because of it. What I know is this…
I am filled with the energy of love and my life has produced a tremendous amount of joy and it is my honor to share this with anyone that I come across. This is why I write and this is why I share some of the most intimate parts of my heart with everyone here. I am not embarrassed to feel what I do. And I am not ashamed of what I am.
I am love. I am joy. I am so very good and so are each one of you truly!
