Megan's Journal

I'll be the first to admit that I was resistant at first towards the diet and exercise regimen. When I first saw it on Thurs., I was excited, then came the fear. Fear of change I guess, fear of "oh my God, this is actually for real now!" Holy crap. Well, yesterday I started with the exercise plan, and today I charged full speed ahead with the diet and exercise...just when you think you have built strength and endurance, you're faced with another challenge. That's okay, it's a great challenge! (and a tough one at that!) The only real thing I struggled with is not eating before doing cardio this morning. I was starving when I woke up, but drank some water, and ran on. I survived, and it felt great! The one thing I did notice, was that I felt hungry a lot between meals. Also, I'm wondering if I should still be drinking a protein shake after workout, or just eat next meal (if it's time)

Nice day out (it was supposed to rain), therefore I decided to run the track again. Unfortunately, my legs were so sore from the leg workout I did yesterday I only managed to do 2 miles, and half of that was walking. I tried to get my mind focused on running, but sad to say, I was defeated by the heat and leg soreness  I did manage to get through my shoulder/arms workout today in an hour and 15 minutes. I'm always focused on trying to lift heavier, don't know if that's a real big concern now, (for example, I can do lateral raises with good form with 12 lb weights, dumbbell curls with 20-25 lb weights, shoulder presses 20 lb.) I get discouraged and frustrated because I want to lift heavier weights, but I guess I shouldn't beat myself up about that too much. After all, I did make it through the workout. Tomorrow is just a cardio day-so I made it through the first 3 workouts!!!! On that note, my whole body is in pain.

Didn't do weights today, since today is my day off from my 3 day split. I didn't do any cardio today, unless running errands is considered cardio ;)

Last night I had my whey protein with 1 tbs pb at 1 am as scheduled, however, still woke up starving!!! I went to sleep around 2 am and woke up at 9:30 am still tired, and like I said, my stomach was growling like crazy. My first meal wasn't until 11 am, so I went back to sleep until 10:45. Ironically, with 15 minutes until my first meal, the hunger pains had finally subsided. Throughout the day, I still felt hungry, but just chugged some water, and that took care of it temporarily. Tomorrow will be back to the gym... 8-)

Today was chest and back day. Did am cardio outside before meal 1, then went back to the gym a little later for chest and back workout. However, I felt that I was dragging to get through this workout, but successfully completed it and gave it all I got. Feeling pretty good, until a conversation with close relative brought me down. I have to remind myself that they're are a lot of people who are going to do that, family included. Anyway, went to the store to pick up filet mignon for one of my meals tonight, and couldn't help but notice chocolate, chips...pasta and meatballs sounded good. What is wrong with me? I can't remember the last time I had a craving. Anyway, went home made meal 3 and after wards felt pretty good...

Okay so today is a low carb day, and I have absolutely no energy to hit the gym today. I'd much rather take a nap until tomorrow comes. I had hoped eating my third meal would boost my energy levels, but nope..nothing.

 Tad,

funny that you say that, considering before it was time for my 5th meal I was feeling weak and low on energy again, which made me very moody...my poor husband :D

Well, I'm ashamed to admit this, but I have failed today. :o After so much whey protein as my meals, (not to mention 2 low carb days in between) I was fiending for things I haven't craved for in months...pizza (hey it was on multigrain crust) and ice cream. Oh Lord have mercy! After that I was full the rest of the day and therefore, ditched my meal plan for the day..( I did still eat healthy though; chicken breast, veggies, etc) I'm trying not to feel guilty about it...

I'll be back tomorrow...healthy food..need to do something about all this protein powder consumption though...if it's a really crucial element to the success of becoming a figure competitor, I'll find a way to adjust. If not and I can consume food that has substance though, I opt for that! Oh yeah, not to mention I went into a coma-induced sleep :D and woke up late for my first meal..so I was already confused as to what to do. I can do this, I can do this...I know I can! (Got to keep telling myself that!!)
